Mother's Day Tea

Will's preschool excitedly underwent weeks of preparation for this event. The kids could not wait until the big day. Will even went so far as to tell me "Happy Mother's Day!", every morning, for about 2 weeks. He was hoping I'd fall for it and celebrate with him, early. The night before the actual Tea, though, I said "Will! Can you believe tomorrow's The Day?!" He said "YES!!" "And after that...nothing." Apparently was *really* enjoying that anticipation. The Mother's Day Tea certainly did not disappoint, though. Each child met their mom at the door and helped us pin on a lollipop corsage. A picture was snapped and they led us to our special seats. The tables were loaded with handmade decorations, poems and goodies for the moms. They had put so much love and thought into this day, it brought tears to my eyes. Will was beaming the entire morning. We enjoyed our cookies and lemonade, together, while we discussed his disappointment over not actually being served tea. The class performed a few songs for us while we cheered and videotaped. Then came Will's favorite part. The moms were directed to form a circle, with the kids, and participate in some group songs. Said songs included lots of ridiculous movement and silly words. The class was hysterical and every mom got into the spirit of it. The Mother's Day Tea was definitely worth the wait. Will and I will have many happy memories of it.
